Only through
art can we get outside of ourselves and know
another's view of the universe which is not
the same as ours and see landscapes which otherwise
would remain unknown to us like the landscapes
of the moon. Thanks to art, instead of seeing
a single world, our own, we see it multiply
until we have before us as many worlds as there
are original artists.

FWADA Mission Statement
The members of the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association include independent art dealers,
non-profit exhibition spaces, museums and university galleries. These institutions bring
noteworthy and meaningful art before the public by organizing, funding and hosting open
exhibitions. In addition, they work to stimulate the community's awareness of visual art
through educational programs, by supporting art competitions such as Art in the Metroplex
and with events such as Fort Worth Gallery Night and Artist's Christmas. The association
takes great pride in its important role as a contributor to the cultural richness of Fort
Worth. We believe, with Jean Dubuffet, that "Art is a source of enchantment. The need for
art is as basic as the need for bread, perhaps even more so. Without bread, one dies of
hunger. But without art, one dies of boredom."
Association members are pledged to the maintenance of the highest standard of ethical conduct,
committed to public service and dedicated to professional integrity. The Association aims to
foster communication and cooperation among its members and the community at large.
Members of the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association each possess knowledge in a specialized
field. Their role is to locate high quality works of art and to exhibit them to the public.
This leads to the establishment of long term relationships with artists, relationships which
are not limited to the artistic. For instance, The Association and its members support and
participate in EASL, the Emergency Artists Support League, which provides emergency economic
aid to artists who have suffered major misfortunes. These activities give the Association a
pivotal role in the establishment and maintenance of a full and vital visual arts community.
It is a role that the Association assumes with great pride.
